Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart play it cool at the VMAs

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner took to the stage at the MTV VMAs and delighted fans with their sultry appearance and introduction of the extended New Moon trailer.

The Twilight cast have been keeping a low profile whilst filming the third enstalment of the Twilight franchise but last night they were allowed out to play, much to the delight of their millions of fans.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner took to the stage to introduce the extended trailer of forthcoming movie, New Moon, and the crowd went wild.

The stars seem to ooze cool and looked every inch the mean and moody rock n’ roll style actors we have come to know and love.

Kristen, looked stunning in a Valentino mini dress and Rock & Repbulic heels. She was flanked by Taylor Lautner on one side (in Calvin Klein) and Robert Pattinson on the other, in a navy blazer and open neck shirt.

In an understated manner, Stewart said: "Whether you're Team Jacob or Team Edward, we want to thank you for your undying support over the past year."

"For tonight, we're bringing you and only you a first look at a movie we've been working on for months." Pattinson continued.

Taylor Lautner finished by saying: "Just for the MTV Video Music Awards, this is the extended trailer of New Moon.

Despite an online leak and some Kanye West hijinks, nothing could upstage an appearance by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner as they thanked fans and introduced the trailer for New Moon.

But what were they doing backstage? Well, one of the New Moon threesome was dancing to "Single Ladies," that's what. Read on to find out what happened when they weren't on camera...

Rob and Kristen weren't about to give any indication they were a couple. Even backstage, there was no PDA. But they did sit together and chat for a bit.

They were silent when Lady Gaga came into area covered in fake blood after her performance. But they both giggled when Gaga came out from behind makeshift dressing room in her face-covering red lace get-up.

After presenting the New Moon trailer, Rob, Kristen and Taylor came back to talent holding area for photos.

And that's when Rob did a little jig to "Single Ladies" while Beyonce's performance was on monitor.

Then they were gone. I'm told they were taken to their cars and may have been going to fly back to Canada.
