‘Twilight’ fans dominate Comic-Con opening
>> 2009/07/25
Comic-Con started some 40 years ago as a small convention for die-hard fans of comic books and graphic novels. It's grown exponentially over the years and now has become a promotional centerpiece for many of Hollywood's biggest movies. While just about every comic book super hero is represented at the annual San Diego event, the most attention is on the stars of the Twilight sequel.
Thousands of people lined up for hours upon hours for the chance to see these three actors: Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The Twilight sequel, New Moon, dominated the first day of Comic-Con.
It was at this convention last year that the stars got their first taste of Twilight mania.
"We're all so thankful to be here," said Lautner. "Comic-Con was huge eye-opener, and here we are again. Doesn't seem like a year, but great to see the fans again."
Lautner joined co-stars Stewart and Pattinson for a press conference before joining 6,000 fans for a panel discussion.
The popular trio tried to give hints about what we can expect from the rise of "New Moon."
